Shaveen is trying to instil a sense of foresight in all aspiring lawyers. One should not simply study law for acquiring a law degree. Instead, one must know what exactly he or she wishes to specialise in. For example, when a question, "Where would you like to be in five years' time?" is asked of you at an interview, a favourable answer may go like, "I wish to develop my experience in Intellectual law, and if possible enhance its current niche in this area..." Then, the prospective employer would know that you will be an asset to the company, while at the same, bringing about a sense of self-fulfilment for yourself as well. This would be win-win situation, right?

Hi, I have a question: can a person exercise his rights of landlordship when his landlordship is not confirmed yet and still in a process and the process has never been completed by a lawyers as the files were lost? Can he sign an agreement with a tenant in this condition and bind the tenant by the clauses in the agreement? Can you give an example of a law in this regard, please?

Whether it is in law studies or career prospects, one need to stop and reflect, "Am I on the right track? Is this the right area for me?" Is there a mismatch of skills? Sometimes, the assessment methods may not suit you. Find out what you are good at, and have plan on how you are going to pursue it. As Shaveen puts it: "When you run into difficulty, it is not a lack of competence. It just means that your competence has not been applied appropriately!" Well said! An eye-opener! ❤🙂

first of all "natural law" can be observed in nature... whereas man made laws or principles typically can't be observed in the free nature and are a polarization... religion is an example of man made construct... the root of religion is to "bond" typically to the decree of some God, god, devil, angel, demon, tin god, dictator, politician, salesperson, etc. made in the past... Reality on the other hand is fluid and change is the order with the wave function being a swing of the positive and the negative... man made laws lack this swing between poles and instead trap humans to a single pole or an incomplete construct lacking the contrary... ideas like "ethics" are the result of natural law where system and order can be observed in the sustainability of the herd animal, for example, with both male and female taking on the child raising duty, sharing habitat, allowing for the strong to lead and the weak to die... man made laws circumvent this natural order and create a bias or inequality... so for example, capitalism can not be observed in nature as sustainability with centralized excesses, waste, flaws being recycled back for a relative perfection for an entirety... Whereas we can observe a "socialism" in nature where there is balance and equality, with no single animal in the herd having an unfair or unequal advantage... it is natural selection that creates the order that is sustainable while man made decrees create sustainability for the individual at the cost of the community, or an eventual failure of the community... a real socialism does NOT stop humans from their wants or desires, but rather allows for EVERY individual to also find their wants and desires... but in a natural law system, in line with nature, these "wants" do not lead to excess, flaws or waste, with redundancy or accumulation or hoarding which is the product of man made capitalism, but with system and order... socialism with needs and wants can be achieved through proper scaling, where boundless expansion is reigned in, and demand is structured so that it does not outstrip supply... this means that each individual in a community is not only interested in self, but also the greater community so that each is looking out for the other

to be honest i think fitness for the most part is a big waste of time, if a person's goal is to develop skills and knowledge, you spend your points talent points or time on what it is you want to get better at. so running is directly opposite direction UNLESS maybe you are listening to legal study material on speechify on your phone though. i listen to speechify at my job which reads to me legal study stuff while i am earning money and i listen to it while i am doing chores. health though is good regardless what we do. avoid drugs, sleep well, eat well, fitness i think is only SMALL part of being healthy, i seen so many people at the gym who are not great in health.

Hi Shaveen, would love if you could talk about/invite a guest in the legal field who sought opportunities abroad to study and/or expanded their career. Many Sri Lankans are moving abroad to work and study, even in the legal field. But I’ve not seen a figure in the legal field talk about this and guide students on the path to study and work abroad. Some areas you could talk about: - should you go abroad? - what countries must you look at? - the type of research you must do when looking at Universities or jobs? - (for the students) life after studying I.e., career - fields in demand - how to become a lawyer in those countries - legal content creators worth watching to get an idea about the environment in those countries (like Liam Porritt in the UK) - visa requirements (if that is a topic worth talking about) - settling in - a plan B - developing a new lifestyle abroad Appreciate it and keep up the nice work. Been following you from 2019!

This is not correct. The House of Lords ruled that the Prime MInister's use of the prerogative (in restricting individuals' ability to join unions) was illegal on the grounds of the individuals having legitimate expectations, and to rule in a way violating these expectations is unlawful. This is an important case for establishing that the governments use of the prerogative is justiciable if it contravenes an individuals 'private rights and legitimate expectations'. (correct me if I got some of the detail wrong, but the video does not reveal the actual outcome and significance of the case)

Would you consider making a video on how to organize an MPT? Introduction and conclusion, easy. My issue is, I see the task and often times I have a hard time understanding which parts of the law library to apply. Sometimes it’s apparent, however a lot of times I find myself including too many categories/headlines and then analyzing those points as well… and I always run out of time. Failed the last bar due to only getting less than three quarters of my PT completed.

Shaveen's title "Embrace Resistance" reminds me of the salmon swimming upstream against the current in order to ensure the survival of their offspring. The importance of managing our time well in completing our answers cannot be overemphasised. An exam script with the required number of questions answered fully to the point also shows the examiner that the candidate is well-prepared for a fast-paced legal environment as a professional later. What's the point of being well-prepared and not being able to finish the answers on time! 👍❤❤❤

How is the test for remoteness different to the first step of the caparo test? if the risk of harm to the claimant was reasonably forseeable by the defendant, this would already be covered by the caparo test and surely does not need to be covered in legal causation?
